June 24 to July 25
Reception July 9, 6 to 7pm
Featuring DL Watson and Alice Van Leunen
DL Watson presents mixed media, abstract paintings. In Watson’s first exhibit at Pronghorn, the artist employs a musical theme to define the movement depicted in the images. The active markings suggest musical movement but the artist notes that the imagery is spontaneous and not intended as representational. She applies many layers of transparent and opaque mediums, adding, scraping - taking away and covering up - until achieving the desired effect.
Alice Van Leunen presents folded paper and mixed media constructions at her first show in Central Oregon. The artist’s work loosely derives from origami in creating design through folded and woven paper but also adds embellishments of thread, lettering, metallic elements, cloth and other materials for texture and richness. Van Leunen’s Pronghorn exhibition artwork also features poetry of Kelly Gill Holland written on the images which lend themes to pieces.
